Beeston theRatandMouse Feature

We’ve long been fans of the London-based property blog theRatandMouse and have had several pieces in it about Beeston Media and our work. It’s a fascinating mix of expert opinion, gloss and gossip. So it was a delight to be asked to do a feature interview for a recent edition about our take on the world of the property video.

Bristol Architectural Photography

It’s nice occasionally not to have to travel too far for a project. And you can’t get much closer than the new-build apartment scheme we recently shot for Bristol architectural practice Southpoint, just 5 minutes walk from Beeston HQ.

Skyquest Helicopters USA

A long-standing client of ours, Skyquest, has recently been bought by USA technology company Curtiss Wright Controls Embedded Computing and the call came in to us for a fast turnaround film to showcase Skyquest’s Video Management System products to the USA market. It’s a great example of how a client’s existing video archive can be re-used in a fresh way for a fresh market.

Lawsons Loft Lift Video

Coming Soon… Lawson’s Loft Lifts

At the end of April we spent a day’s filming with Lawsons Lofts.  This is an impressive company based on a clever idea.  If you’re converting a loft, they’ll supply and deliver the entire package directly to roof height.  They can do this because they’ve got a fleet of loft-lift lorries, with inbuilt cranes so powerful that they can even reach over the top of a house and into the back garden.

Stephen Ireland Fish Tank Sun Newspaper

Brocket Hall

To viewers of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, the name Brocket conjures up images of Lord Charlie Brocket munching bugs and lying somewhere between Peter Andre and Katie Price (in the competition-ranking, that is).  To us it means Brocket Hall , a fine English country estate run by Palmerston Hotel.

HD/SD thoughts

When we start a project, there’s always a decision to be made about what video format to shoot on – Standard Definition (SD) or High Definition (HD). SD was for many years the norm for us, shooting in DVCam, and indeed most of the films you can see on our website are shot this way. The turning point for me as a director / cameraman came when I got a phone call a couple of years ago from a client frantic that their newly-commissioned video looked “terrible” in the just-finished marketing suite…

Aquarium Film Finished

Our film for top-end fish tank specialists Aquarium Architecture is now complete (as previewed in our Fish and Footballers blog below). In total, we filmed 1x day in Manchester and 2x days in London, packing in no less than 9x fish tanks. These ranged from a small bedroom marine pair flanking a TV and a fresh water bar-top piranha tank… to Stephen Ireland’s free-standing hallway reef and an even bigger 5m long marine aquarium which takes up one entire wall of a chic Docklands apartment.

Surrey… Bali-Style

We’ve worked for the London Basement Company for over 2 years now, making 3 long films (12- 17 mins) for dvd distribution and countless shorter cut-downs / client testimonials / celebrity PR interviews for the web. We’ve also taken stills of their basement work, both in-progress and completed. We even took the company staff mug shots for their new website.

Fish & Football

We’re in the middle of production of what’s promising to be a very cool film about fish tanks. The client is Aquarium Architecture, who design / build amazing aquariums (aquaria?). These are mainly marine tanks, miniature eco-systems complete with coral reefs, clown fish, shrimps, urchins etc. Aquarium Architecture is based in London and works all over the world but one particular hotspot of fishy fans is the South Manchester footballer belt around Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Prestbury…
