Brocket Hall
To viewers of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, the name Brocket conjures up images of Lord Charlie Brocket munching bugs and lying somewhere between Peter Andre and Katie Price (in the competition-ranking, that is). To us it means Brocket Hall, a fine English country estate run by Palmerston Hotel.
Brocket Hall is located in Hertfordshire, 45 minutes from London. It was home to two Prime Ministers, Lord Melbourne and Lord Palmerston and Queen Victoria was a frequent guest.
We filmed there for two days at the end of September, and came back with inspiring shots of Palladian Bridges in misty dawn-light, sweeping shots of the fabulously ornate grand staircase, and tracks of the dining hall and its silver, glistening by candlelight.
The film was commissioned via property marketing consultants Frank & Earnest and Lansdown RE, who were a delight to work with, and even provided one of our subtly-placed models. We are too discreet to name him.
The film’s target audience is private individuals and corporations who can make Brocket Hall exclusively theirs, and their guests’, for two days every year. An attractive proposition for golf lovers (there are two championship golf courses and a Nick Faldo Institute), and foodies (the Estate is also home to the Michelin starred Auberge du Lac restaurant).
It was only when we returned from Brocket that we discovered one of Hamish’s family had actually lived there. His aunt is married to ex-MP Geoffrey Dodsworth. They rented the little nursery floor some time in the 1970s. Somehow we can’t imagine it looked as glamorous then as it does today!
